The Tyre Sidewall:
The writing and various details on the sidewall of a tyre aren’t intended to confuse you, but there to tell you about the specification of the tyre. Its includes information on the speed to which the tyre is safe to use at, its maximum loads, size and which way round it needs to be, hopefully our diagram will help you to understand a little more about the bits you need to know about.
The temperature rating: An indicator as to how well the tyre withstands heat buildup. "A" is the highest rating; "C" is the lowest. The traction rating: An indicator of how well the tyre is capable of stopping on wet pavement. "A" is the highest rating; "C" is the lowest. The tread-wear rating: A comparative rating for the useful life of the tyre's tread. Tread-wear grades usually range between 60 (quickest wearing) and 600 (most durable) but remember there are factors like tyre pressure, vehicle type and road surface that will make a difference to durability.
